Value of a Smile
It costs nothing, but creates much.
It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give.
It happens in a flash, and the memory of it sometimes last forever.
None are so rich that they can get along without it,
and none are so poor but are richer for a smile.
It creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in a business,
and is the mark of friends.
It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged, Sunshine to the sad
and natures antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is no earthly good to anybody until it is
And if it ever happens that some people should be too tired to give
you a smile, why not leave one of your own?
For nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none left to give.

I’ve had a several challenges this week with my travels…..plenty of
flight delays and messed up reservations and inconsiderate service folks.
ARG! My sanity has been maintained by remembering Chutes and Ladders. Do
you remember playing that? Sometimes you landed on a ladder and you’d
could climb ahead. Eventually, though, there would be a chute that would
send you down a few pegs. In the long run, you move forward more than you
