Ripples #1285: Pace Yourself

PEBBLE

Instead of hustling to build a life that looks good, what if you slowed down and cultivated a life that feels good?

BOULDER

Sometimes courage looks like climbing a mountain, but sometimes courage looks like taking deep breaths and finding ways to pace yourself as you prepare for what’s ahead.

We made it to 2024…woohoo! While I’ve always known that there are plenty of people who aren’t into the whole resolution thing, or skip over the “fresh start” mindset when a new year rolls around, I feel like so many people I’ve connected with are too much in surviving or reviving modes to get exciting about opportunities for thriving.

Given just how challenging the last few years have been, and just how turbulent 2024 is likely to be, this seems like a perfectly reasonable, and maybe even healthy, attitude to have right now. Surviving is critical (some might even say required) for our existence, of course. It’s also true that actions and mindsets that help us revive from a difficult chapter in life will not only help us get back to normal (or construct a new normal), when employed correctly they set us up to be in a good place to soar when it IS time to accelerate into thriving.

If you haven’t felt like taking a brisk polar plunge into the new year, rest comfortably in the realization that pacing yourself can be a wise choice, too.

Peace,
Paul
