Ripples #837: No Reservations.

PEBBLE
Sooner or later we must realize there is no station,
no one place to arrive at once and for all.
The true joy of life is the trip.

BOULDER
Appreciate your ability to live in the present,
for the past can be found only on receipts
and the future holds no reservations.

PONDER
Now, now, NOW is the only time to live, because the past has slipped on by and the future isn’t yet here. We all know this, of course! The bad news is that we seem to forget it more often than we forget where we put our keys (glasses, wallet, etc.). The good news is that it doesn’t matter how many times we forget; it only matters that we have the capacity to remember it again. And every time we catch ourselves worrying about the future or fretting about the past; all we have to do is gently (ever so gently) nudge ourselves back into the here and now.
You may have heard me describe the three deep breaths I take often, where on the inhale I think the word HERE, and then on the exhale I think the word NOW.
Here, now. Here, now. Here, now. [Now, YOU try it, mkay?]
Peace,
Paul
The Ripples Guy
P.S. I love, LOVE it when people share parts of Ripples on social media, and I appreciate when they include a shoutout to Ripples. It is more important to ME that the SOURCE of the pebble/boulder get acknowledged, and sometimes when people just share the quote and mention The Ripples Guy, I worry that someone might think I’m trying to take credit as the originator of the wisdom. Whenever possible, share the ORIGINAL SOURCE of the quote and then feel free to add, via UnleashRipples.com or @RipplesGuy or #Ripples or whatnot. THANKS TEAM!
