PEBBLE
Give me a fruitful error any time, full of seeds, bursting with its own corrections. You can keep your sterile truth for yourself.

BOULDER

Don’t make the same mistakes that everyone else makes. Make wonderful mistakes. Make the kind of mistakes that make people so shocked that they have no other choice but to be a little impressed.

PONDER

I’ve made some mistakes lately. Some of them are fairly small, and at least one was quite a doozy. I tend to be pretty hard on myself about errors of any size, and the self-talk that I hear bouncing around in my head for days after I recognize the error is rather, uhm, well….harsh.
Can you relate?
In my best moments, I remember that mistakes are part of being human, and that when leveraged properly they contain valuable seeds of wisdom. They help us improve, they help us understand ourselves, and they give us a chance to practice resilience.
It’s okay to be bummed about mistakes, of course; the trick is to spend as little time as possible being hard on yourself so you can hurry up and get to the part where you hop back up, reflect on what went wrong, and then try again with a bit more wisdom and a renewed determination to get it right the next time.
Peace,
