Ripples #924: Stretching & Savoring.
Feb 6, 2017
Sound when stretched is music.
Movement when stretched is dance.
Mind when stretched is meditation.
Life when stretched is celebration.
-Ravi Shankar, shared by Kara in Blacksburg, VA
We were made to enjoy music, to enjoy beautiful sunsets, to enjoy looking at the billows of the sea and to be thrilled with a rose bedecked with dew…Human beings are actually created for the transcendent, for the sublime, for the beautiful, for the truthful…and all of us are given the task of making this world a little more hospitable to these beautiful things.
-Desmond Tutu, shared by Donna in Owings, MD
Life is busy. I know you know that.
Life is beautiful. I know you know that, too.
The right amount of Busyness allow us to be productive, which can add meaning to our lives. Too much busy, however, tends overwhelm our system and can reduce our effectiveness. The appreciation of Beauty allows us to be peaceful, which can add joy to our lives. Dwelling constantly and exclusively on that which we deem beautiful can tire our senses and can reduce our enjoyment.
Experiment this week with stretching and savoring; notice how they impact both your effectiveness and enjoyment of your day and your life.
