Welcome to Leap Day! Every four years we squeeze February 29th into the calendar, and it reminds us that even our most structured systems require a bit of flexibility and tweaking every now and then. If we didn’t occasionally nudge our calendar, our ordered framework for keeping us on time would gradually disconnect from natural rhythms and cycles.
Someone mentioned to me that they always take a vacation day on February 29 and fill it with fun and adventure. It may be too late to completely clear your schedule for today, but we can still keep an eye out for opportunities to squeeze in something that’s been missing from daily life: Kindness. Joy. Delight. Awe. Solitude. Creativity. Notice what’s missing, and take a leap toward restoring balance.
