Every year when Valentine’s Day rolls around, I like to explore the theme of love. I’ve always taken great care to avoid focusing solely on (or even primarily on) romantic love. And I understand that plenty of people aren’t fans of V-day either because it over-glorifies coupling and/or because it over-commercializes what is supposed to be an intimate, personal connection.
I get that, and I’ve always tried to help us think of “big picture” love; over the years, we’ve taken turns pondering self-love, friend-love, work-love, and even pet-love. Of course you are welcome to completely ignore the day if that feels right for you, but I would truly love it if you’d consider the challenge of this week’s quotes and embrace the opportunity to unleash love in a meaningful way: toward yourself, toward those around you or toward the world. #LoveBlooms
