PEBBLE
We are all the beneficiaries of those who labored and hoped but did not live to see the realization of their dreams.

BOULDER
A tree is known by its fruit;
a person by their deeds.
A good deed is never lost;
whoever sows courtesy reaps friendship,
and whoever plants kindness gathers love.

Here in U.S. and Canada, we set aside Labor Day to honor workers and recognize the contributions they’ve made to our collective strength and well-being. It also arrives at an interesting pivot in the calendar: summer is winding down, schools are starting up, and many of us are settling into the rhythms and routines of fall.
Today’s Pebble reminds us that much of what we enjoy was made possible by people who worked and hoped without ever seeing the full results of their efforts, while the Boulder nudges us to remember that our own work is planting things, too.
Whatever kind of work fills your days right now, paid or unpaid, public-facing or behind the scenes, this is a fine week to wonder: Who and What am I helping to grow?
May the work we do this fall help our workplaces, homes, communities, and world grow a little kinder, stronger, and more hopeful. And remember: even though we may not get to see every bit of fruit that eventually appears…
…we can still plant well.
Peace,
Paul
