Ripples #1421: Openings and Opportunities

PEBBLE

When we release expectation and invite appreciation, all the moments of our lives become openings and opportunities.

BOULDER

There will be something,
anguish or elation,
that is peculiar to this day alone.
I rise from sleep and say:
“Hail to the morning!
Come down to me, my beautiful unknown.”

PONDER

If your life is anything like mine these days, you’ve got some good stuff going on and some hard stuff happening, too. The particulars may be different, and the ratio may not line up identically; still, I bet there are things to be thankful for and other things you wish would go away, or at least pause for a bit.

Since there’s plenty we can’t control about the timing, intensity, and duration of what comes our way, it seems wise to consider the openings and opportunities available to us today. Take a look at your schedule, and maybe even pause to notice the physical space around you. Can you spot an opening to do a little good, have a little fun, or simply experience the moment more fully?

After rereading that paragraph, I decided to follow my own advice. I glanced around and immediately spied a little plush octopus who has been hanging out on my windowsill for a few weeks. I plopped him onto my shoulder to help me wrap up this Ponder and have a little more fun with my morning.

In a moment, I’ll dive into the rest of my day with an eye out for more openings and opportunities. Perhaps you and I can both greet today’s beautiful unknown with a little more curiosity, appreciation, and maybe even a bit of playfulness.

Peace,
Paul
